Everything You Need to Know to Join TCA/TCAM
If you want to join TCA Waterpolo, Click Here.
The easiest (and smartest) way to join TCA/TCAM is to send an email to one of our coaches. They will be able to tell you what to do, who to talk to, and when you should show up for your first practice.
Assigning a Workout
Don't worry about swimming in too fast or too easy of a lane. In each workout we have a wide range of swimming ability. Your Coach will be able to assess where you should be comfortable.
TCA (age group, under 19) swims in the evening after school gets out. Swimmers will be assigned to a workout based on their skill and schedule. Parents of children under 18 will need to be present to fill out the necessary paperwork.
TCAM (Masters, 19 & over) swims throughout the day. Please visit our workouts page to find out what workout works best for you. Talk to a coach before you come or plan to meet one on the deck before you swim, they will have the information and forms you need. Practices are an hour long and at strategic times during the day so hopefully one will fit your schedule. Masters 101 and 102 are available to newer swimmers or to those who want to work on their strokes.
Meets and other Activities
Meets are completely optional for all swimmers. However we do strongly encourage swimmers to participate in meets, after all, that is where the real fun starts. To help all swimmers become accustomed to larger meets, TCA and TCAM host mini meets throughout the year. These are much smaller, low key meets usually lasting a few hours and we only allow TCA and TCAM swimmers. Everyone who swims will receive an award and have an official time to enter a sanctioned meet.
In addition to meets, we host a few social events for our swimmers. These events include waffle breakfasts after some of our mini meets and the famed Thrift Shop Formal for our Masters.
Registration/Fees
All swimmers must register (and re-register) with TCA or TCAM and with Sierra Nevada Swimming or US Masters Swimming (respectivly) every year. Sierra Nevada and US Masters Swimming require a yearly fee. TCA/TCAM and the Sonora Sport and Fitness Center also have monthly fees which vary depending on your situation. If you will just be using the pool, the monthly charges are less and family packages are available. Inquire with the Front Desk or one of our Coaches for more information.
Swimmers will not be allowed in the pool without the proper forms filled out and fees paid. This is purely for insurance and safety purposes. All swimmers must re-register yearly in December and the same rules apply.
Coaches
Our Coaches are very busy during workouts. The best time to talk to them is before a workout or after the last one. If you can't make these times, just be patient with them and they can help you when they get a break.
