| | | Pinecrest Open Water Swim | 8/26/06 | |
| The annual Pinecrest Open Water swim is this weekend, Saturday, August 26. The day begins with a one mile swim for the US swimmers (over age 12) followed by the masters in the one mile, and finally the two mile masters swim. TCA swimmers over age twelve should be enterd in the swim (talk with Patti prior to entering). TCAM swimmers should be using the Pinecrest swim as a challenge and an accomplishment. If you completed the 1650 in the winter, you are ready for Pinecrest. Enter with a lane mate and swim together, many find they like the open water swimming. Just think no circle swimming, no line on the bottom, no pace clock, no coach, no intervals, it is just you and the beautiful Pinecrest lake. Give it a try! We would appreciate it very much if you would enter prior to Saturday to help out the entry process. Race day entries are being accepted beginning at 6:30 AM. We do need help with food items. If you could bake a breakfast/brunch treat (muffins, scones, bread, quiche, salads, lasagna or whatever) you efforts would be greatly appreciated. You can bring your food to the beach on Saturday AM and give it to Bobbi at the food table. If you are unable to bring your food on Saturday, please bring it to the pool by 3:00 PM on Friday, Aug 25. Thank you. Also if you are not swimming, we can use volunteers. | We will be having our second summer TCA mini meet on Tuesday, June 27 at 3:30. Please note the date change from Wednesday due to the water polo games. All of our afternoon TCA swimmers including our newest swimmers should plan to participate in the mini meet. Warm ups will begin at 3:30. All swimmers need to bring $5 entry fee and an adult to help with timing or ribbon writing. Please plan to leave your younger swimmers in day care or at home so you can enjoy and help with the meet. Swimmers (both boys and girls) need to wear TCA caps for all of the meets. They are available at the desk for $4, be sure to write your swimmer's name on the cap. We also need everyone to help with clean up at the end of the meet. |

| Our first spring TCA mini meet will be held this Wednesday, May 17. All TCA swimmers should plan to participate in the afternoon meet. Swimmers do not need to preregister for the meet. Warm ups will begin at 3:30 and the meet will begin at 4:00. Swimmers should bring $5.00 entry fee and an adult to help with timing and ribbon writing. All TCA swimmers (both boys and girls) are required to wear TCA caps for all meets. We also need help with setting up for the meet at 3:00 and all parents are expected to help with the clean up after the meet. |

| We would like to encourage parents to take their swimmers to the meets. The meets are the fun part of swimming not only to monitor improvement, but to also let your swimmers socialize with teammates and with swimmers from other teams. Please let your coach know if you are attending this TCA Team Meet. We are having some difficulty finding out who is entering the meets and as a result did not have a coach attend the last meet. |
